Day 7 - Puerto Vallarta

This morning we headed off to the Vallarta Zoo which is just up the road from our hotel in Mismaloya. The Zoo is set back into the jungle with a wide variety of animals. The animals are all really happy to see you as you are allowed to hand feed most of them. There aren't the same safety measures as you would find in Australia - with only inches between you and most of the animals. One of the first animals that we saw was a Jaguar and as it let off is ferocious roar only inches from our faces you nearly had to drag us out of the clouds. Ali was having her photo taken in front of a black bear as it reached it's tongue through the cage and licked her on the back. The girls got to hold a baby Jaguar (only 7 weeks old) and a not so baby Lion. Georgie had trouble with the weight of the Lion (it was more than 1/2 her weight). On the way back to the hotel we went to the local Tortilla factory and purchased a kilo of fresh off the press tortillas for lunch, which we ate with Guacamole and Cheese. In the afternoon we headed off for a swim at Mismaloya beach which is about a 5min walk from the hotel. Mismaloya beach is located on a small bay and surounded by cliffs which were great for exploring. We managed to cook pasta for dinner (which was a welcome break from Mexican food) and then after dinner Shane and I had a margherita at the hotel bar where we met some families from Colorado.
Overnight: Casa Iguana
