Today we left Las Vegas (very sad about leaving everyone behind) and headed to the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately we were a bit late arriving as it took an hour to get through the Hoover Dam traffic and then we lost an hour when we crossed the boarder into Arizona. There was snow on the ground in some places just before arriving at the canyon and we went through the Joshua Tree forest. The last 14 miles of the trip was pretty rough and ready as the roads were unmade, but we finally arrived at the Grand Canyon mid afternoon, in time to do the tour of the West Rim. Our first stop was the Skywalk, which was completely amazing standing 4000ft above the canyon floor on a glass platform. We got to have a walk and around and take some amazing photos before heading on to the next viewing point where we climbed on some of the rocks for the best vantage point. The tour included a meal so we went to the ranch at about 5pm and had dinner before leaving at about 7pm. When we left, the temperature was -7 celcius. We probably weren't really prepared for weather this cold. We had about a 2hr drive to our overnight destination at Kingman.
Overnight: Best Western Kingman
