Monday - Day 31

It was supposed to be an early start but it ended up being mid morning before we headed off to the snow. We decided to head straight to Arapahoe Basin to ski before going to Silverthorne where we would stay at the Cutler's condo. The drive up to Arapahoe was spectacular and took us over Loveland Pass at an elevation of 11,990 feet. The drive was not a sit back and relax experience as the roads were steep and covered in snow. It has been hard for us to get used to the idea of driving without chains. We arrived at Arapahoe Basin just after lunch, picked up our passes and spent the rest of the day there (mainly getting our feet as it has been more than 12months since we have put on skiis and in Shane's case a snow board). The terrain was challenging but we all really enjoyed it. At the end of the day we drove down to Silverthorne, which is at an elevation of 9,000 feet, so we were all really feeling it by the end of the day. The two flights of stairs at the condo when we were unloading our gear had us all puffing.
